Recording on the CD Elegia

When I wrote the first movement of this concerto, I felt that I had, at long last, found the type of music that I had been looking for. The melodic simplicity, the discreet lyricism, and the slight sense of being off-balance that I felt when I set a melody of equal-length notes over an oscillating accompaniment in 5/8 time fascinated me. Any instrumental virtuosity is absent and the piano seems to be playing from within the orchestra rather than in front of it.
