Banda Rappresentativa
della Federazione Corpi Bandistici della Provincia di Trento |
---|
It was founded in 1989 by the Federazione dei Corpi Bandistici in order to rapresent the whole of the provincial bands in certain special circumstances. Is is made up of 70 players, most of them with diplomas from the Conservatory and chosen from among the best instrumentalists in the Province of Trento. So far its activities have been restricted to performances such as: the Christmas Concert, which is held every year on 26th December at the S. Chiara Theatre Auditorium, Trento, and some contributions to important events like the Flicorno d'oro and the seminars for band leaders held by Jaap Koops and Jan Cober which are organised at the end of every year by the Federazione. In July 1997 the band took part in the W A S B E (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles) World Conference in Schladming (Austria) as chosen representative for Italy. Currently the band is conducted by Marco Bazzoli, Jan Cober and Philip Sparke. The Federazione dei Corpi Bandistici della Provincia di Trento, whose president is Fabio Recchia, was founded in 1963 in order to act as a power centre for the life of all the member bands through its uniting organisation and the coordination of all the initiatives which favour the progressive improvement of the artistic and technical qualities of member bands including the professional training of all band members. It is thus an associative body which represent 84 bands with around 4.500 members, carries out organisational, training and promotional tasks and which, while fully respecting the indipendence of the individual members, promotes the global development of the whole movement both in association and professional qualification terms. In order to provide valid study and training facilities the Federazione currently organises (from October to May) an important series of instrumental courses run by a group of specialists which include single theme seminars, study workshops, summer orchestral music courses and courses for actual and aspiring conductors. At an organisational level the Federazione offers its members tax and administrative assistance, looks after the assignment of instruments and equipment, publishes a quarterly magazine (Pentagramma), and provides bands and individual band members with the necessary insurance cover. For several year now special attention has been dedicated to the preparation of Youth Bands, which include young players from 8 to 18 years of age, as part of a larger, stagged programme for the early learning of music and early contact with the experience of band life. In 1996, on the initiative of the Federation, the Istituto Superiore Europeo di Studi Bandistici (I.S.E.S.B.) (European Band Studies Institute) was founded in Trento, in order to provide higher specialisation and differentated training, at professional and amateur level, open to all European countries. In the course of each year the Federazione promotes various distinct initiatives: concerts and conferences, area meetings and a series of initiatives designed to promote and foster band activity in the whole province. To its name it also has the Farfalla d'oro award, an International Band Music Competition for composers and for publishers, and a now well established Classification Competition. The Federazione also cooperates in the organisation and success of the Flicorno d'oro, an International Band Competition. |
